About
Aperture Desk Job is a comedic technology demonstration set in the Portal universe. It was created to demonstrate the features of the Steam Deck (Valve's first handheld computer), but can also be played with a controller.
Set deep within the bowels of Aperture Science, the player assumes the role of a product inspector who has been tasked with inspecting Aperture's toilet designs. The player is managed by Grady, a Personality Sphere who dreams of going up in the world. When an accident during this testing causes bullets to fall into one of the toilets and explode out of it, Grady gets the idea to create toilet turrets, proposing a plan to sell the idea to Aperture's elusive CEO, Cave Johnson.
The entire game takes place from behind a desk, with the player pressing buttons to control the toilets or perform other specific actions. The second half of the game becomes more action-packed, with the player able to control a turret as they shoot down enemy turrets attempting to stop them from reaching Cave's office.
