Andromeda: Rebirth of Humanity

Andromeda: Rebirth of Humanity is an online game which claims to have Massive Multiplayer, Player vs Player and Co-operative modes of play. It is the product of a single developer.

The back story starts with Earth in the future and mankind seems to be doing alright. Then, one day, aliens known as Strith turn up and, to cut a long-ish story short, they are stronger than we are and when we don't just give them what they want they take it and pound the planet in the process. We've escaped in a colony ship to Andromeda where the plan is to build a space empire and maybe go back and reclaim Earth and anything else we can take from the Strith.

While there is a strong combat element fighting fleets of NPC pirates or other players, a great deal of the game is based around colonising planets, mining and generating resources, and building their economies. This leads to further research and better ships and weapons etc.

The game was designed for touch screen interfaces but can be played with the usual keyboard and mouse.
