About

Among Us is a social deduction game, where players are given many different tasks aboard a space ship, a planetary base, or similar locales. However, some players are impostors, winning by eliminating the rest of the spacesuit-clad crew. The non-impostor crew have to stay observant and may discuss their findings in emergency meetings—called manually or when a crewmate's body is found. During these meetings, players may vote to eliminate another player. The crew wins by completing all of their assigned tasks (even as deceased ghosts) or when there are no impostors left.

The game takes place on a map of choice, including a space ship, an airship, a fungal jungle, and a planetary base. The crew gets tasks to keep things running, for example emptying the trash chute, shooting incoming asteroids, updating software, or clearing oxygen filters. The impostors have the ability to kill the crewmates. In order to distract or escape, they are also able to traverse through the ventilation system, as well as cause emergencies. These may include depleting the oxygen or turning off lights, potentially requiring swift attention from players.

The players are able to converse in "emergency meetings". These are called manually by pressing a button at a central location of a map or by reacting to a dead crewmate. During these meetings, the players may discuss their observations and thoughts in text form, often referring to other players by their unique colour (such as "red", "lime", or "purple"). Players may also vote to eliminate another player, or abstain from voting.
