Amazing Discoveries in Outer Space

Amazing Discoveries in Outer Space is a 2D space simulator and platformer with roguelike elements. Gameplay is based on exploring solar systems, planets and asteroid belts with the goal of gathering enough star points to activate your z-drive and jump to the next solar system. Star points are acquired by scanning objects placed throughout the solar system while taking great care to not waste precious fuel. Depleting your fuel reserves means instant game over. The game is divided into three journeys of increasing difficulty.

At your disposal you have a spaceship with a navigation computer and an astronaut that can exit the ship at any time to explore planet surfaces or perform repairs. The navigation computer serves as the main narrator of the game and will guide you through the tutorial sections of the game. There are also a number of gadgets available to facilitate your exploration. For example a tow-cable that can be used to lift objects blocking your way and a flashlight for illuminating the night-side of planets. Gadgets are unlocked progressively as you get further into the game. Roguelike elements include randomly generated solar systems and planets as well as permadeath, although shortcuts can be unlocked that will allow you to start a number of light years into your journey.
