Age of Alexander

In Age of Alexander the player takes the role of Alexander the Great during his famous campaign. The gameplay offers the usual real-time strategy formula: The player builds a settlement in which every building has a certain use, e.g. building more soldiers, defence measures or researching new weapons. He also needs to gather the two resources gold and ore which are needed for every such action. In this way he builds an army which he uses to march to the enemy and crush him.

The main character of each mission is Alexander himself. He has special abilities which can be upgraded over time. But the player has to be careful because the mission is lost if Alexander dies. The fights are not restricted to the land, the player can also build water units like ships. Overall there are no big battles like one could expect in a game like this but there is a strict limit for the number of units the player can have. This limit can be increased by conquering small settlements on the map. Another special feature is that the player can arm all units individually - even with weapons from dead enemies.
